Corrugated Structural Steel

A-60 fire rated constructions

In some projects the standard IMO structural core is replaced with a light structural core consisting of a corrugated steel plate. To ease the insulation Rockwool Marine & Offshore has got an assessment from DBI (Danish Fire Institute) which allow insulation using our standard fire rated constructions without filling out the corrugation.

The assessments are valid for A-60 fire rated constructions as follows:

• Rockwool Marine Wired Mat 105, 75 mm, 1 layer

• Rockwool Marine Wired Mat 90, 45 mm, 2 layer

• Rockwool Marine Firebatts 130, 30 mm, 2 layer

• Rockwool Marine Firebatts 100, 60 mm, 1 layer

The assessment is provided under the following restrictions:

•  Products as described in test report.

•  Structural core towards the fire.

•  The free span of the valley below the wool may not exceed 100 mm and the thickness of the corrugated steel plating is not below 1.9 mm

•  The joint between the corrugated steel sheets must be fully welded to insure “air tightness”.

•  The corrugated steel structural core should not carry any vertical load.

•  Pin pattern according to the description in the assessment.
